NOTICE.......THIS TEXT FILE MUST ACCOMPANY ALL COPIES
OF MACHFSRD.TOS
To whom it may concern ... (the person reading this)
This program (Mac HFS Disk Reader [aka "MacRead])
was originally written to fill a specific nitch
in my current buisness.I needed to transfer Postscript
print files and some TIF files from a MAC to my TT.
I must admit though, that I myself did not write this
program.(Software aint my thing)
It was done for me (at a price that I could afford)
by a friend and darn good programmer whose name shows
up at the top of the first screen.(his company name is
REEVsoft, and his quick work saved my behind)
I will tell you up front that this version has a few
problems.File sizes over 14mb can choke, there is no
checking for free HD space at the path you specify.
It will only READ FROM a mac formatted scsi/dma HD,or
a SPECTRE formatted floppy disk.(HFS of course)
and sometimes SQ555 formatted with odd drivers choke,
but PLI drivers are OK. The program is a keyboard driven
TOS file. Well we cant all be perfect.(at a price I can
afford)
We (Compu-Seller West)originally (January 1992) sent
a copy of this program to a company in California,
who was interested in purchasing the rights
in order to build it into a module for
one of their programs already beginning to show up in the
market place. They were all RUSH-RUSH to get them the
software to evaluate and send overseas for "tweeking"
and the necessary improvements.
Well time passed, and I had a chance to attend the ACE
show this year, and to my surprise I saw My software for
SALE by the California Company. In the original form that
it was sent to them by me in january ! they called it
"MACREAD". I was there to help them at the show to handle
sales because they could not accept charge cards.
NOTICE .. ALL SALES PROCEEDS WERE HANDED OVER TO THEM
AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SHOW - COMPU-SELLER WEST DID NOT
RECIEVE ANY MONIES FOR ANY SALES OR HELP GIVEN.
In fairness I talked to the VP of their company and
he promised compensation would be forthcoming immediately.
They sell a piece of hardware that I wanted to get,and
had originally [jan92] requested [plus x amount of dollars
worth of software/hardware/cash]if they wanted the prg.
Again time had passed...So my programmer friend and I
decided to redo the program and give it some new features
like a gem interface, transfers TO and FROM HFS disks,
multiple file transfers without re-running program,
transfers with and without translations, unlimited file
sizes, and more accurate error trapping. I personally
spoke to the VP again and told him that what we were
intending to do, and I was sending a letter officially
stating our intentions.
He seemed not to like this new
situation, and as it turned out they refused to accept
my letter in the mail. The letter is now being posted
along with this software and text file.
Perhaps NOW they will read it....I thought I was being
pretty nice about it.................So thats why we
decided to release the original version into the public
domain.
We would like to reward those people who purchased this
program by offering an upgrade to the new version "MacSEE"
